With everything else going on as your big day draws near it is easy to forget just what your engagement session is all about – the photos. Your wedding is bound to be a very busy day with all the planned ceremonies and traditions. On the contrary, engagement sessions are a fun and relaxed session all about you and the connection that you share. The images from your session will be a great memory, capturing the raw emotions between you two. It is also great to have some awesome images when you aren’t in a tux and gown to complement your wedding photos.

Engagement Photos are Useful!

Your engagement session photos are so much more than just beautiful images that you have framed on your walls. You can use them for save the date cards, invitations, seating charts and table numbers, wedding programs, guest books, or even a beautiful engagement book for your home.

Practice for your wedding

I particularly love engagement sessions because they are a great time for us to work together prior to your wedding, and for you to get more comfortable in front of the camera. Generally, the engagement session is the first time you will have your photos taken by a professional photographer, which can be a nerve-wracking experience for some people. Our time together during this session is a perfect way to ensure that you are comfortable and confident on your wedding day.

More often than not my clients tell me that they are not photogenic at all and super camera shy. No matter how you feel in front of the camera I will work with you to build your confidence and show you just how great you are. And it is way better to get any anxiety out before your wedding day arrives – one less thing to worry about.

Your engagement session is also a great trial run for me. I can learn how you two interact, how to pose you best, and learn about your personalities and how to show them through the photos that I create.

Getting to know me

While engagement sessions are a great way for me to get to know you, it’s more important for you get to know me. You can get a taste of my shooting style and learn how I direct you. How I direct you during the session will be very similar to how I will direct you on your wedding day so you’ll know exactly what to expect. You can also talk with me about your wedding plans and get tips about planning out the schedule. I have seen it all and have a ton of advice on how to organize the day minimize rushing and delays, and maximize you’re the enjoyment of the day.

Lastly, you will likely spend more time with me than anyone else on your wedding day – including your partner! The engagement session is a perfect ice breaker to transform me from a “guy with a camera” taking your photos to a “friend” taking your photos. By the end of it all, you’ll be ready for anything your wedding day throws at you, you’ll have some awesome photos and you’ll be pumped for the big day!
