Location | UNH’s Campus in Durham, NH
It was the perfect day for Kat and Trev’s engagement session on the campus of UNH in Durham, NH.
Both Katharine and Trevor attended UNH for their undergrad, studying Theatre and Dance. They first met while taking an acting class together, and their love of performing allowed us to get into one of the theaters on campus to take some epic shots on stage under the lights. When we were first planning their session, they asked if I would be interested in shooting inside a theatre. This immediately got my creative juices flowing with ideas for compositions and how to light an entire theater. I am so happy with the final results — they matched up exactly with the image I had in my mind.
After the theater photos, we headed out and about the campus. Our first stop was a stone wall outside of one of the dorms where Kat and Trev first talked to each other — how special is that? With them as my tour guide, we explored all over the campus and their special spots. Along the way, I would stop them whenever I saw something that would make for an interesting composition.
After exploring most of the main campus, we finished up their session just as the sun was setting. Perfect timing.
I am super excited for their upcoming wedding this Fall at the Belknap Mill in Laconia, NH!
I hope you enjoy Kat and Trevor’s Engagement session!
How long have you been together?
Four years.
Tell us how you first met.
We met at UNH. We had kind of known each other but had never spoken until we were in an acting class together. We were picking partners for our final scene and since Trevor was one of the only people I hadn’t worked with, I asked him to be my scene partner. We worked together on a scene from First Night by Jack Neary and after a few rehearsals, the chemistry expanded off the page. A few weeks later we were dating.
When did you get engaged?
February!
Tell us about the proposal.
Kat and I had been dating for 3 1/2 years and living together for about 7 months when I finally decided I was truly ready to take things to the next step. I slowly started telling our friends and families without her knowing and for the next few months, as I was planning, people kept getting engaged. I used this to my advantage and threw her off the trail by making comments that “it will happen, we just aren’t there yet”. “For” her birthday we went to the Ice Castles in Lincoln, NH and when I found the moment, I didn’t hesitate. I gave our friends the look, and they were ready. It was perfect.
