Tell us how you first met.
Jason and I met in the spring of 2004 at The University of Vermont. Jason had just graduated when I moved into an apartment with his sister, Jessica, and a few other ladies who I met on the Women’s Rugby team (yes, I played rugby). Jason said it was love at first sight. I said I spied him first before we met when he would hang outside of the campus library :-). Jason moved back to his home state of NJ that spring and we dated long-distance for 2 years before I graduated and moved down to NJ in 2006.
Tell us about the proposal.
In July of 2009, Jason planned an elaborate, romantic, amazing proposal at the Vermont Sky Diving Company. It was all a surprise to me and he pulled it off. Jason, somehow, made me think going to VT was my idea! He had planted the idea of going to VT for 4th of July weekend in my head, but I had to house-sit for a family in Montclair. He contacted the family without me knowing and asked if they could find someone else because he was planning to propose. Of course, they said yes! (Thank you, Pamela Levine!). After they called me to say they were no longer going away, I immediately called Jason and said, “Let’s go to VT!”. Prior to all of this, Jason had a 36′ Will-You-Marry-Me-Laura banner printed and shipped to Vermont. His best man, Jamie Smith, drove it to the Sky Diving Co. so I would not see it. We took a day-long course to do a solo jump and then we were rained out. On day 2, we finally made our jumps. Jason went first. While he was back on the ground and I was ascending, he set up the sign. My whole jump was videotaped. Including my reaction once on the ground. It was incredible. A picture and article made it into the Sept. ’09 issue of Parachutist magazine.
What is one thing that you love most about each other?
Laura: The thing I love most about Jason is his devotion. There has never once been a day since we became a couple that I ever thought he would give me less than the world.
Jason: The thing I love most about Laura is her wild, crazy, and adventurous side that compliments my recklessness ;-).
Besides getting married – What is the one thing looking forward to on your wedding day?
