Location | Portsmouth, NH
It was a beautiful day for an engagement session in picturesque Portsmouth, NH. We started the session off in Prescott Park, an amazing park just a short walk from downtown Portsmouth. The park has beautiful gardens, walkways, flowers and trees — all making for a perfect location for Jocey & Matt’s engagement session. While they loved the natural setting of Prescott park along with some urban styling old brick walls Jocey & Matt wanted to supplement those photos with some images on the seacoast. We found our way to Great Island Common in New Castle, NH a 32 acre space with a beach and beautiful lawns — and it is only a 10 minute drive from Portsmouth! Just as we arrived a massive fog bank rolled in off the shore. While many people might think that would be bad for an engagement session — I have always dreamed to do engagement photos in the fog. We had perfect conditions too — The sun was still shining through the fog creating a soft dreamy like lighting that allowed us to create magical images! It truly was a one of a kind engagement session.
So without further adieu please enjoy Jocey & Matt’s photos along with a bit about their love story :)
I hope you enjoy Jocey and Matt’s Portsmouth Engagement session!
How long have you been together?
We have been together for about two and half years.
Tell us how you first met.
We first met when we were both attending Keene State College. We had a class together, and started talking, and then I (Jocelyn) asked Matt to skip class and go out for drinks instead. We did wait until after class to start our first date and the rest is history! It was a great night, with great friends, and now we have every weekend to look forward to like our first date.
When did you get engaged?
We were engaged on a rainy Wednesday, April 20th, 2016.
Tell us about the proposal.
I came home from work on an ordinary Wednesday, there were flowers, wine and my favorite meal on the dining room table, flower petals on the floor, and one of our favorite songs playing. Of course I think nothing of it, until Matt got down on one knee! It was such a surprise! Little did I know he had the ring since my birthday, in December and it was my great-great-grandmothers ring. The night was special, and simple, similar to how we fell in love. Appreciation to the little and big joys in our life!
