Location | Alyson’s Orchard, Walpole, NH
It was cool and rainy for most of the day, but dried up just for Ingrid & Kyle’s spring engagement session. We had the session at Alyson’s Orchard — a beautiful location for apple picking in the fall, holding special events and weddings. It just so happens that Ingrid and Kyle are also going to be getting married there this summer! There are just so many wonderful spots for photos, we had a great time just exploring the property and seeing all that Alyson’s has to offer. What made their session extra special is that Ingrid’s daughter Isabella also joined us :)
We are all super excited for their upcoming wedding in June. Now let’s get into the photos and how their love story came to be!
I hope you enjoy Ingrid and Kyle’s Engagement session!
How long have you been together?
Kyle and I have been together since August of 2012. That’s actually when we started dating. He didn’t ask me to be his “official” girlfriend until January 15, 2013.
What drew you to each other?
Ingrid — To me being with Kyle is like a breath of fresh air. He is kind and sweet and he helps me slow down.
Kyle — What drew me to Ingrid was her need for a strong shoulder, a soft hand, and a kind heart. What made me fall in love was her depth of heart and compassion… and that dimple when she smiles :)
When did you get engaged?
Kyle proposed last year, 2015 on January 1st.
Tell us about the proposal.
Ingrid — Since we started dating we have this joke that Kyle tries to take me to restaurants that are closed — like permanently. This has happened a few times where we drive somewhere, get there, and the place is closed. So he told me we were going to The Stage for dinner. So we drove there and I was pretty sure it was closed and told him so, but we still went. And sure enough, it was closed. So we walked to the center of Keene and went to the gazebo. There he got on one knee and I said “Kyle what are you doing?” So, I said yes and then we went and had sushi.
Kyle — To be clear — the Stage was a diversion to explain why I was parking near central square, not wanting to give away that I would be proposing up on the gazebo. I hadn’t thought enough to realize that most shops are closed on New Year’s day. I just explained that they had dim lighting but were still open then escorted Ingrid briskly across the circle and up to the Gazebo which was still covered in holiday decor! Then we covered it in love ;)
I have definitely taken Ingrid to restaurants that have closed permanently… the last one being the Summit Steakhouse which is now a winery :).
Side note — Kyle actually called me to try to plan for me to take photos of the proposal, but got too excited and just did it that day!
