It was late fall for Laura and James’ engagement session at Look Memorial Park in Florence, MA. It was a bit chilly, but still a perfect day for a stroll through the park.
This is a very special park though… it is where they will be getting married next year! While we were exploring the park we were also talking about how they are going to lay out the ceremony and where the reception will be held.
After discovering some hidden spots for photos, and a small leaf fight, we headed off to Amherst, MA for the second half of their session. Since the sun sets so early this time of year we opted to do the rest of their session inside at the Inn on Boltwood. It is an elegant inn with beautiful architecture and interior design — which matched Laura and James’ more formal attire.
We are all excited about their upcoming wedding next year!

Tell us how you first met.
We met in college after being introduced by a mutual friend. We were at the campus cafe called “the bridge” we met on the 3rd day. We were friends since the third day of college, but we didn’t get together until much later.
When did you get engaged?
7/15/18. We were at the park where we had our first date (back in summer 2009). A statue garden called “Storm King”. We were looking for a specific rock where we sat and talked the first time we were there. Since it either wasn’t there or was moved, we instead found a nice secluded spot in the woods.
Tell us about the proposal.
Once we found a spot in the woods where there weren’t a ton of people, a bench with a large mushroom next to it. Laura was looking at the mushroom and JB asked her to sit down on the bench. JB got down on one knee and gave a small speech. He presented the ring and then put it on the wrong hand. So all are earliest pictures are with the ring on the ring hand. She was very surprised. There were a few pictures and then we walked around the rest of the park and had a picnic. We had gone to this park together 10 years earlier and had an important conversation on a rock and had had a similar picnic that day as well.
