Location | Hidden Valley Scout Camp, Lakes Region, NH
It was a beautiful day to hike a mountain for Jenn and Joe’s adventure engagement session at the Hidden Valley Scout Camp in Gilmanton, NH.
Engagement sessions are all about capturing the personalities of each partner as well as their connection that they share together. So whenever my clients suggest a location or activity like hiking a mountain for their engagement session I always jump at the chance.
Jenn and Joe met and both work at the Hidden Valley Scout camp where we had their session. It is a beautiful location with lakes, mountains, and trails all throughout. We started out the session hiking up one of the mountains at the camp. While hiking we would take little breaks whenever I found a pretty spot along the trail to create portraits of the two of them.
The summit was amazing with panoramic views all around. We hung out at the summit for a bit, taking some photos, enjoying the views, and drinking some water as the sun started to get lower in the sky. Then it was time to head on down the trail to the base of the mountain. Once down, we went to one of the lakes at the camp to walk along the shore and sit in the lifeguard stand.
It was a lovely and adventurous engagement session :)
We are very excited for their upcoming wedding this October at Castle in the Clouds in Moultonborough, NH!
I hope you enjoy Jenn and Joe’s Engagement session!
How long have you been together?
Since 2007.
Tell us how you first met.
Joe and I met in the summer of 2007 here at Hidden Valley Scout Camp. The details as to the first location we actually met are still up for debate. I claim that it was at the first staff meeting that I attended, he claims it was a few weeks later when we were both working on the waterfront for afternoon Troop activities. We didn’t start dating until the end of the summer of 2013.
When did you get engaged?
Joe proposed to me Memorial Day weekend, 2017.
Tell us about the proposal.
Joe had been acting suspiciously since the new year, and I had thought that he would propose on a cruise that we took in February. After working a staff work day at camp, we decided to go hiking on May 28th to Champney Falls, a trail that is found on the Kangamangus Highway. We got to the falls and had lunch and after about an hour of hanging around, we went up to the top of the falls where no one was at the time. After looking around at the top at the view, I started trying to leave, and then Joe pulled out a box from his pocket and opened it up, asking me to spend the rest of my life with him. We even got a little lost on the way down the trail due to all of the excitement!
