Location | Bingham Falls, Stowe, Vermont
Ken and I had been planning this proposal for weeks before the day actually came. The hardest part was deciding on a location when there are so many beautiful spots in Stowe, VT. Ken wasn’t familiar with Stowe so he leaned on my experience with the area, having photographed a wedding there, and my knowledge of what makes a good photography location.
After some back and forth we decided on Bingham Falls as the location where he would ask Alyssa to marry him. We knew that it was a popular spot so we got there in the morning before it starts to get busy. I got there earlier to get all set up and ready for the two of them to show up. When they showed up, I made it look like I was just taking some photos of the very picturesque waterfall just for my own personal use. They asked if I could take a photo of the two of them with their phone, Alyssa having no idea that I was about to happen.
I suggested they go out on a rock with the waterfall in the background as that was the best view of it, and also the exact composition that I was planning on shooting. Once they were in place, Ken pulled out the ring and got down on one knee, and I photographed the whole thing — just not with Alyssa’s phone.
Alyssa immediately said yes!
After the proposal, we created a few more images along the river before Ken and Alyssa headed off to a celebratory lunch reservation as an engaged couple!
I hope you enjoy Alyssa and Ken’s Proposal session!
How long have you been together?
Alyssa and I have been together since August 2016. Almost 4-years exactly from the day that I proposed in Stowe, Vermont.
Tell us how you first met.
We first met through the online dating app, Bumble. After talking online for a day or two, we decided to meet and get dinner at an Italian restaurant in Bridgewater, New Jersey (where we currently live together). What was supposed to be a typical dinner date turned into a 4+ hour date where we ate and got to know each other until we got kicked out due to the restaurant closing for the night!
How/why did you choose Stowe, VT for your proposal location?
We (unbeknownst to Alyssa) chose Stowe, VT as our proposal location because we initially were planning to go to Colorado prior to the Covid-19 Pandemic. As we got closer to solidifying our plans, we were both in agreement that we were more comfortable going somewhere “closer” to home this Summer. Stowe, Vermont, was the perfect back-up location because it had all the outdoor activities that we enjoy, in addition to incredible breweries, wineries, and food that we would have experienced had we gone through with our trip to Colorado. With the help of Lee, I was able to plan the perfect location to propose to Alyssa at Bingham Falls!
