Amy and Robert had a beautiful wedding at the Exeter Inn in Exeter, NH. The day started off rainy, but just as we went outside for their first look the rains subsided and there wasn’t another drop throughout their whole wedding! Amy was wearing her grandmother’s wedding dress from the early 1950’s that was handmade by her great-grandmother! Like her grandmother, Amy also married a Robert in that dress — So cool! After their first look we headed over to Swasey Park for their creative portraits with the whole bridal party. Swasey Park is the same location that we did for their engagement session, so we were able to recreate some of those images! They had a wonderful ceremony with some very entertaining readings done by their family members. After the ceremony champagne was popping and their beautifully decorated reception began!

Tell us how you first met.
We first met as freshmen in college at Illinois Wesleyan. We were friendly with one another, but the romance did not start until three years later as seniors. After graduation, we moved to separate parts of the country (New Hampshire and Missouri). After several months Robert decided to move to the East Coast in 2009. We moved in together and then Harrison (our cat) joined our family in 2011.
When did you know he/she was the one?
Hers: I knew he was the one when I was picturing our life together far into the future (having kids, buying a house, etc).
His: I figured out I needed to get out of my own way and spend the rest of my life with the best person I know.
Tell us about the proposal.
The proposal was perfect! When we woke up that day, Robert surprised me and said we were going to go for a horseback ride later that day. I was suspicious and asked if he was going to propose! Robert kept a straight face and said “no”. We later went horseback riding in Madbury, NH, walking on trails and through the mud. It was so much fun; little did I know that Robert had the ring in his pocket the whole time, but was afraid to let go of the reins. When we got back home, he then pulled out the box, and said he had “another surprise” for me and asked me to marry him! He then made dinner while I called our family and friends.
What’s the one thing you love most about each other?
Hers: I love how he can make me laugh. He has the best facial expressions.
His: Her kindness is seen in her tone and words when talking to anyone and every action she takes.
Besides getting married, what’s the one thing you are looking forward to on your wedding day?
I am looking forward to spending time with the family and friends we love.
