Location | Los Angeles — Manhattan Beach — Malibu, California
This was an engagement session like no other I have photographed before.
Haleigh and Jordan are getting married this summer in Nelson, NH on Haleigh’s father’s property. While they are getting married on the East Coast, they live together in Manhattan Beach on the West Coast. When it came to their engagement session we were trying to decide on where to have it. They recently moved to Manhattan Beach and wanted to create images where they are starting their new home. So off I went to California to capture their life together.
While I have photographed a couple destination weddings, this was my first true destination engagement session. I landed Saturday night, and we took photos all day Sunday and Monday. Sunday night I culled and edited all the photos from the day, and Monday whenever there was downtime I would edit some more. I was editing on the go because I was going to do a same day slideshow and show Haleigh and Jordan all the photos that we created over the two days before I flew out Tuesday morning. It was a packed full trip, that’s for sure!
We all had an awesome time checking out some of their favorite places, as well as discovering new locations while we explored all around Southern California.
If I had to pick out one thing that I enjoyed most about their multi-day session was really getting to know Haleigh and Jordan as a couple. And being able to create amazing environmental portraits in beautiful and unique locations was just icing on the cake :)
I am so excited to capture their wedding this summer on this side of the coast.
I hope you enjoy Haleigh and Jordan’s Destination Engagement session!
For those that don’t yet know their story – it goes back about 6 years ago when they met at a New Years Eve party in Denver. While they did not start dating until about 2 years after that evening, they each made a strong initial impression on each other.
Fast forward nearly 2 years when Haleigh contacted Jordan on Facebook telling him that she loved looking through his photos of his recent trips to Asia. After exchanging several messages, they decided to meet up for a ‘training run’ as they were both preparing to run a half marathon. Well, that run never happened so instead, they decided to meet on St. Patrick’s Day for what turned out to be the beginning of their story. That first day was spent with friends roaming the streets of south Denver from one spot to another getting to know another and perhaps even enjoying a pint or two of Guinness.
From that first day, as cliche as it sounds, Jordan and Haleigh knew that they had found a perfect match in one another and quickly started their relationship.
Since those early days, Jordan and Haleigh have continued to strengthen their relationship by continuously inspiring each other, challenging one another, and experiencing the world together.
When it came time to pop the BIG question, Jordan chose a hike in Vail, CO as the ideal location as the mountains and CO have been such a staple in their life together.
