Meaghan and Rob’s wedding was like no other! It was a completely non-traditional wedding that was so special. It was an amazing fun filled weekend.
Since it was a non-traditional wedding I am doing a non-traditional blog post! I asked Robert to write the story of the weekend and explain all that we did for their wedding weekend.

Keene, NH holds a very special place in both of our hearts for many reasons.  We drove up dating and left as boyfriend & girlfriend.  It was our first road trip we took together, it was our first overnight stay, and it was the first place we said I love you.  When it came time to plan a wedding there was no where else we could have chosen.
One of the reasons we fell in love was because of how important family and friends were to both of us.  We didn’t want to lose sight of those ideals.  So instead of planning a wedding that centered on just the two of us we wanted to plan something that not only celebrated love, but also celebrated those that are closest to us.
If people were going to be coming in from all over the US we wanted to make the most of our time with them. With that thought in mind we planned everything…. the transportation, venues, activities, and food around bringing everyone together as one.
Our celebration started Friday night at Koto.  We wanted to set the mood and get things moving in the right direction.  A little saki and some good food goes a long way to loosening everyone up and preparing everyone to know this isn’t your normal wedding.

The next day we planned on using New Hampshires natural beauty as a backdrop.  Our first stop was to Alyson’s Orchard.  There was apple picking for families, swings and animals for the kids, and some beautiful views and scenery for the couples.

From there we headed to our favorite covered bridge in Swanzey.  The bridge holds special meaning to us because not only is it one of the few bridges that has a sidewalk that allows you to take the beautiful perspectives head on, but on our second trip to NH, we used that sidewalk and carved our initials into the bridge.

From there it was time for lunch.  Our favorite spot is twelve pine in Peterborough.  Almost every trip we’ve taken includes lunch here.  Not only do we really like the small town atmosphere and all of the fun quirky shops, but we wanted a place that offered a little bit of everything.

Our last stop for the day was cathedral of the pines.  Due to the fact that one of Meaghan’s best friends was going to be officiating our ceremony it gave us plenty of options for venues.  Originally we were going to spring the wedding on people randomly at the top of a mountain while we were both in jeans and sweaters, but after seeing Cathedral of the Pines once we knew that was our place.  Meaghan came down the aisle to “Turning Page” a song we played on our first trip to NH, a song I played as I proposed, and a song that now will signify our wedding.

The only thing left to do now was to celebrate.  Luca’s Mediterranean cafe was right down the street from our hotel and offered some of the best food in town.  We wanted to keep things fun and group oriented so we had some fun guessing games and pub trivia.

While we have made plenty of trips up to Keene these last few years, this last trip was obviously most special because unlike our first trip that started as dating and ended as boyfriend/girlfriend, this started as fiances and ended as husband and wife.

I hope you enjoyed Meaghan and Robert’s wedding and their amazing story of how this non traditional, completely unique, wonderful wedding came to be. This was surely a wedding I will never forget!
