Kristen & Will’s Wedding Date | 12/28/2013
Kristen & Will got married just after Christmas on a warm winter’s day. We started the day off at the Harraseeket Inn, in Freeport Maine. The girls were wearing warm flannels and drinking mimosas as they were doing their hair and makeup. After their hair was all done up and makeup on, Kristen got into her dress — an updated version of her Grandmothers dress! Once Kristen was all dressed I went over to the guys’ rooms for them to finish getting into their Coast Gaurd dress uniforms. It was now time for the ceremony! Kristen and her father rode down to the ceremony at the Saint Jude church in Freeport Maine in a horse-drawn carriage. After a beautiful ceremony, Kristen and Will crossed through a sword bridge — a Coast Gaurd tradition and rode off in that same horse-drawn carriage. They had their wedding reception at back at the Harraseeket Inn, which is such a beautiful reception location. There were beautiful toasts, a lovely dinner, and much fun as the ceremony continued on!
I hope you enjoy Kristen & Will’s Wedding photos!
Tell us how you first met.
We were both at a track meet at MIT, the end of Kristen’s freshman year and the end of my sophomore year. I was competing in the discus but already had thrown. Kristen came by to watch one of her teammates throw and happened to sit down next to me. I thought she was pretty cute and decided I better talk to her. The next day I watched her compete and we spent the majority of the rest of the day hanging out and watching other events. Before we each left I got her number and the rest is history.
When did you know he/she was the one?
Well after a year of dating I had to leave for the summer and go to an assignment in Washington State. We had to spend about three months apart. The first time I saw her after that time apart, the feeling of anticipation and happiness was nothing like I had ever known. I knew then that I couldn’t live without her. Kristen says she knew I was the one when she dropped me off at the airport to head out for that same assignment in Washington State. She says after I went into the airport she got back into her car and cried like never before. A little sadder than my story haha.
Tell us about the proposal.
The proposal was pretty simple. I originally wanted to hike up to the top of Mt. Monadnock and propose there (where I first asked her out), but Kristen advised against the hike considering it was still icy in March. So instead I took her on a little hike behind her grandparents’ orchard to a little meadow clearing. At that point I got down on one knee and asked her to marry me. She immediately said yes and was jumping up and down with excitement.
What’s the one thing you love most about each other?
Kristen and I said it was too difficult to narrow down one thing that we love about each other most. So instead we said one thing about each other that compliments the other. Kristen definitely has an uncanny ability to keep me stress free with her calmness and kindness. I pride myself in being adventurous and pushing Kristen outside her comfort zone.
Besides getting married, what’s the one thing you are looking forward to on your wedding day?
Easy for both Kristen and I. The food.
